Hi Stacye! This is Robin from Academic Programs & Policies. I've been stalking your blog and I just wanted to say a big CONGRATS!!!! Isn't being a mom the most amazing thing ever, and it only gets better!
For the congestion you might want to try to find Vic's Vapor Rub or some Russian equivalent. Put it on the bottom of her feet and then put socks on her. I don't know why this works but for some reason it does.
Hope to see you and your adorable little girl when you get back to UAB.
My advice, fwiw, is to just go into survival mode and don't try to start "parenting" now. Do what you need to do to just get through the next few days and then home.
Did you bring baby med with you? A decongestant (like Dimetapp) would likely help her sleep. If not, your translator can't help you at the apteka, and you don't feel like your pantomime is up to scratch, you could sit in a steamy shower to loosen her congestion. Keep her head elevated--can you stick a book or something under one end of the pack and play? What do you have for her to chew on? Will she tolerate anything cold in her mouth?
We're Andy and Stacye. We're on the way on Jan 24th to adopt a child under 2 years old. We're going as a no preference family so we expect a boy, but who knows!! God and life have all these little suprises.
